Shannon Miller – Founder and President
Shannon first developed a love for people with special needs when she was 13 years old. Since then, she has worked with hundreds of children, teens and adults who have special needs, as well as their families. She worked as a special education teacher for 7 years in CFB-ISD and GCISD, and has been a volunteer counselor at Young Adult SEEK Camp (an overnight summer camp for adults with special needs) for 16 years. Shannon also has a passion for learning about other cultures, and has traveled to Mexico, Haiti, Kenya and Guatemala with mission teams. In 2012, she took a volunteer position as the Special Needs Ministry coordinator at Irving Bible Church. This turned into a staff position in July 2014, where she is currently the Special Needs Coordinator and Mission Support Staff. She founded Through the Clouds Family Care in 2013, where she currently serves as the President and Treasurer.
Stacy Boggs – Secretary
Stacy graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in May 2001 with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Behavioral Science. She served 5 years on active duty, earning experience in management consulting, human resource management and management of healthcare contracts. While serving abroad, Stacy earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Maryland, Europe. Upon completion of her active duty service requirement, Stacy separated from the Air Force at the rank of Captain, Medical Service Corps. She was hired by Stryker Communications in 2007 and has held various management positions within manufacturing operations. Stacy is currently a Business Unit Manager responsible for the production of medical integration systems and $60M in annual shipments. She is also active in her community and church, helping serve the needs of others.
Melody Parlett – Treasurer
Melody lends her expertise in operations management, event planning, and fundraising to the Through the Clouds Board. She earned her Masters of Public Administration from UNT and has been serving in the public sector for the past nine years. She is also experienced in crafting policies and procedures, database management, volunteer recruitment and retention, systems administration, community development, and dispute resolution. Currently Melody is the Director of Operations and Special Events for Children at IBC, where she shepherds the operations team and oversees the administrative and technical functions for a dynamic ministry that offers programming and resources to over 800 children each week. She is an active volunteer for her church and community.
Angela Gilliland – Director
Angela brings over 15 years’ experience in medical marketing and business development. She started a medical spine distributorship in West Texas, which grew from zero sales to over 5 million in just three years. For the past seven years, she has developed markets for outpatient physical therapy centers and solidified strong relationships with physicians in the DFW area. She serves the community by mentoring special needs families, and has volunteered with Bible Study Fellowship for the last 12 years as a Group Facilitator.
Mary Ann Connor – Director
Mary Ann has been on staff at Irving Bible Church for over ten years, where she currently works as the Next Gen Coordinator. Through this position, she has the unique opportunity to be a part of someone’s life as they grow from childhood into student ministry and then onward into college and young adult. Many of IBC’s former students are now serving in full time ministry as adults because they were part of a diverse and multi-generational ministry at IBC. As part of the Board for Through the Clouds, she is able to use her networking skills and valued relationships to connect others who also have a passion for special needs.
